Jadeite yawned as he walked to class. Man, why did he have to take such an early class? He hated getting up early, and would much rather be in bed until oh, lets say noon? Maybe he should have stopped by the cafe and grabbed himself a coffee. Too late now.

Walking into his ancient Japanese history class with 3 minutes to spare, he paused to look around the room searching for a seat. There was only one left beside a girl with long black hair. So much for being able to sit on his own. Oh well. He walked over to the seat, which was way too close to the front for what he preferred. Sliding into his seat he pulled out his laptop in order to type notes on. He looked at the girl out of the corner of his eye, wanting to see if she was pretty. Maybe if she was being in this class and flirting with her won't be so bad, he smirked to himself. His heart stopped in his chest. Beside him sat the last woman on this planet he ever wanted to see again;

Sailor Mars, Princess Mars, Rei Hino.

Jadeite spent the entire class tense and trying to ignore the woman that sat beside him. God, he never thought he'd see her again! It was agony to sit beside her. He ached to reach out and hold her, but he knew after everything he'd done that would never be a possibility again.

"and just what do you think you are doing here?" He heard the words leave her lips with such anger he nearly flinched.

"I'm taking the class same as you lady," he said standing up, deciding the best course of action was to pretend that he didn't know her and didn't have his memories. What was in the past needed o stay in the past. "I don't know what your issue is, but I haven't done anything in the last hour I've known you to deserve this kind of attitude." with that he grabbed his stuff and made himself casually walk away from her and walk out of the classroom door, down the hall and out of the building.

Walking behind the building so he was out of sight, he leaned against the building and let out the breathe he'd been holding. He honestly didn't know if he could do that every day. Perhaps he should change classes. A part of him thought wanted to stay and see her every day.

Rei let out a huff. Was he really going to play this game...or did he really not know, she thought it was unlikely that he had lost all the memories, but was really working hard to give people the benefit of the doubt. It was something she struggled with on a daily basis. She walked out of the class in the direction she thought she saw him go in. She would apologize if she had been wrong, something else she hated. If he had been lying, she would wait until the right time and give him a piece of her mind, and it wouldn't be as Rei Hino, but as Sailor Mars and she would be ready to give him a taste of her flames.

Rei walked around for a bit, realizing her chances of seeing him were slim to none. She gave up, figuring she would see him again soon enough if she had a class with him. She walked over to the cafe to get a cup of tea to calm her rattled nerves.

Jadeite hummed in pleasure as he grabbed an arrow from the bag and notched it. Taking careful aim, he allowed the arrow to fly true, straight to the dead center of the target. This, this was calming. For the first time in nearly a month since he had seen the reincarnated version of his lover, Jadeite felt truly relaxed.

He had always found archery relaxing and could be found at the archery ranges relaxing after a stressful day on Earth long ago. Nephrite use to tease him on occasion until Jadeite got fed up with his friends attitude and showed him how proficient he could be with his bow and arrow. He was just as good with his bow and arrow as he was with his sword and if given a chance, tended to switch between the two in a fight. After that day, Nephrite's teasing took on a more fond quality and less of a mocking one.

There was something about the ritual of drawing the arrow, notching it, lining the shot up and letting the arrow go that was almost meditative.

Out of the corner of his eye, he saw someone enter the range. Rei. Curse it all! Could he not get a moment of peace from the woman? Did she have to invade every aspect of his life? He was so stressed with avoiding her that his easy going, relaxed nature had disappeared in the wake up stress, tension and anxiety. It was getting to the point where even KUNZITE noticed. His brother who was too busy trying to keep them afloat with work and was constantly tired had noticed a change in him. This couldn't keep going on. Jadeite had to do something about this but he also didn't want to be forced to leave the archery range either. He couldn't lose his one place of solitude.

Grabbing another bow, he closed his eyes and took a deep breathe. He could ignore her and continue on with his practice.

Rei walked onto the archery field. She set up her bow and arrow and closed her eyes and meditated for a moment. She focused on the target at the end of the field and pulling the arrow back sent the arrow flying to the center of the target. 

Those around her made gasps and small claps at the maiden's skills. Rei turned and smiled at the others on the field and then she saw him.....no doubt she couldn't be wrong. Jadeite was standing at the other end of the field shooting an arrow to the bullseye.

She wondered why she was seeing him again, she honed in on her aural reading skills but couldn't get anything negative off of him. Could it be possible that this is someone different entirely, but why does he look so much like him?


Rei walked over and decided to practice her more appealing people skills. "That's quite a shot, what say you to a challenge, the one closest to the target buys the other coffee." 

She tucked a strand of hair behind her ear as she spoke, "My name is Rei by the way, what's yours?" she said as she picked up her bow and arrow.

“Thanks for the offer, but I’m not interested in a challenge,” he replied, his eyes never leaving the sight of the target in front of him. Archery was one of the only things that relaxed him these days; he really didn’t need her intruding on his solitude. For another thing, why did she have to come to this archery range? Didn’t she have one at the Shrine she could practice at?
 
Letting his arrow fly, he hit the target, dead center. Notching another one, he tired to ignore her presence beside him. He couldn’t allow himself to be chased out of the range. He would just learn to deal with her being there; it couldn’t be that hard right? If he ignored her, she would go away.

Rei was taken aback by this young man's decline at her challenge, usually people had taken her up on a challenge. This is why I have no time for boys, they are truly a waste of my time. she thought as she turned to leave, feeling as though she had had enough of the archery range for the day.

She watched the blond for short moment, sure that this was definitely Jadeite, she wanted answers, but she knew she wouldnt get them this way. She tried to get a reading on this blonde but got nothing.

She walked away and called over her shoulder, "whatever, I'd probably had beaten you anyways, you're just scared to get beaten by a girl." She left the range and walked towards her shrine.

Something inside Rei shifted- she felt in her core that he had been Jadeite and she felt a sense of rage and wonder at what he was doing here and if it were really him- she would have questions and she would demand answers.
